“It’s the top of the hour, on Larry King Live”. This is how Larry King starts his show, Larry King Live, every night, and has done the same for the last 22 years. The show which premiered in 1985 is one of the most watched shows worldwide and is CNN’s numero uno show. Although due to Time Zone considerations we in India can view it in mornings.
Larry King is undoubtedly one of the most popular Television Commentator ever. The thing which stands out in his interview style is the ease with which he talks with the guests. Mostly a smooth conversation with spikes of tough questions. The guest list includes people from each and every field possible not restricting himself to Politics and World affairs, the stuff in which CNN stands out from the rest. His long experience in the world of Radio and Television, followed by his writing career earns him the due respect from all his guests which levels the playing field in his interviews. The large specs, rolled up sleeves and tie along with mike placed in front of him is a regular image for all his fans now.

Nina Paley bills herself as America’s Best Loved Unknown Cartoonist . Give her till 2008 and she’ll be India’s Best Debated Unknown Cartoonist.
To rewind a little, Paley is the creator of Sitayana, a series of animations based on the story of Sita from the Ramayana. Paley, an American artist who lives in New York, has already attracted a lot of attention from Indian netizens for her colorful work set to little known jazz music from the 1930s.
There is an old Hindi saying, “Uperwala jab deta hai toh chappad phad kar deta hai†and Ms. Shilpa Shetty’s celebrity status is its perfect example. An absolute goner as an actress in Hindi film industry, who would have thought a 5 weeks stint in a reality show would end up making her a household name, not just in India but world over.
In January 2007, UK’s Big Brother Celebrity series attracted the largest ever number of public complaints to the UK broadcasting watchdog Ofcom. The complaints revealed apprehensions that Shilpa had been subjected to bullying, allegedly with undertones of racism. Though I firmly believe that it was more of a “bitch fight†issue and not racism, the publicity generated was enough to arouse a sea of worldwide controversies making Shilpa an overnight international star.
And as they say, the rest is history.

Of all the people made happy by Sanjaya Malakar’s departure – and yes, I’m looking at you and your big fat grin, Simon Cowell – the happiest is, I think, Sanjaya himself. If he isn’t, then he should be.
I’ve said for a while now that the show was sapping whatever talent he had, pushing him to make a bigger spectacle of himself each week because plain singing just wasn’t enough in his case. In the process, he got some of the hardest-earned stage confidence that I’ve ever seen and that’s the one positive thing he can take with him from American Idol. Once the crushing weight of the show was off his back, he immediately relaxed into a much more confident and less desperate performer – the evidence is right there for you to see in his farewell performance.
No, this is not a joke. Mike Tyson and Brett Lee are seriously getting ready to make their Bollywood debut.
Tyson, once the biggest (and youngest) boxing sensation in the world, is reportedly going to make his appearance in a music video for the aptly named Fool-n-Final starring Vivek Oberoi, Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia and Sunny Deol. When asked about this casting coup from the blue, producer Firoz Nadiadwala responded that it’s a movie about a bunch of bumbling criminals, one of whom is a boxer. I refuse to write a punchline for that one - it’s simply too easy.
Personally, I can’t help but hope someone will lose their temper on the sets of this video. Then Tyson can bite off Sunny paaji’s ear, Sunny paaji can knock him back Punjabi-ishtyle, bachcha log Ayesha Takia and Shahid Kapoor can sit on the sidelines drinking Complan, while Vivek Oberoi calls a press conference. They could just release the “Making of†video and forget about the flick altogether.
