To put it simply, DesiDabba is our effort to be your one-stop guide into one of the world's most lucrative television market, The Indian Television Industry. So enjoy and bring on the traffic. More about Desi Dabba

Okay, don’t get me wrong here – this is not a Shah Rukh Khan bashing post. But seriously yaar, you cannot ignore the canny resemblance the two superstars share. The minute Shah Rukh appeared on the television screen during the India against Pakistan T20 Finals, the scary image of Michael Jackson flashed in our (me and my gang) minds. The hair, the face, the sunglasses, the entire package (with the exception of skin shade) - makes one wonder, are they brothers from different mothers? [By the way, would like to thank my dear friend Melody for the awesome SRK-Jackson picture job]
We Indians take our religion, region, state, caste, sub-caste, sub-sub-caste very seriously. We like to think that our religion/region/caste is superior to others. Why blame the Indians? The world is divided into such groups based on region/country/state/language/religion and any damn thing we can find to differentiate us from others.
The new ad from Idea telecom featuring Abhishek Bachchan is a good solution to this discrimination. Whoever thought of the concept has thought quite deep about the groupism we deal in. The ad feature Abhishek Bachchan as the sarpanch of a village. To avoid the infighting between the people of the village based on caste, the sarpanch (head man) orders not to call anybody by their name. They will be known by their mobile numbers.
Watch it to get an idea about idea. The ad is simple in concept and effectively focuses on the “IDEA” brand too.
We Indians love our entertainment especially when it comes to Cinema and Television, to the point of extream passion. And this I say from experience, after all I am no different. But today somehow I feel we are treading more on the lines of stupidity. I mean what else you would call a group of ladies marching up to Star India’s office to protest against death of their favorite character (Mihir Virani from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) and demand his revival.
For sometime now, Ekta Kapoor and her saas-bahu shows have been at the receiving end of many such useless dharnas organized by either utterly bored housewives or media attention desperate political activists. Either the audience is peeved by the inclusion of "rape" scene in primetime soap or it’s the enactment of controversial topics such as Euthanasia.
