Review Gandhi, My Father: A Decent Effort but Not Inspiring.

What happens when the person sitting next to you shed bucket loads of tears on the display of emotions on the big screen, while you don’t even twitch a muscle? Well, some of us do end up doubting our “sensitivity” level however I have another reason to back my in-difference towards Feroz Khan’s Gandhi, My Father.

I guess when it comes to historical films or even autobiographical films for that matter – one should not be too opinionated, especially over the central character (s) or else it gets difficult to judge the true aesthetics of film at hand. To be frank, I am not a Gandhi fan and I do not think very highly of him. In my opinion he one of the overly exaggerated historical figures of our country and many a times credited for not-so-deserving applauds.

Koffee with Lara & Katrina: Hot or Whot!!

From the very start, I totally adored Lara Dutta. Not so much for her acting skills but mostly for the whole “attitude” package she carried with herself and to say, she looked ravishing on the big screen is like stating it really mildly. On the other hand, Katrina Kaif was just another pretty face in Bollywood to me. Drop-dead-gorgeous, no doubt! But can the woman act, I certainly didn’t think so. However she turned out to be a surprise package for (most of) her critics; with every film, Ms. Kaif only keeps getting better.

Watching two of my favorite Bollywood ladies together, chatting up with one of the bitchiest host on Indian Tele – in many ways, was a perfect end to a otherwise dull Sunday evening for me.

News Channels in Suicide Row

My opinion of Indian news channels has never been high but I never imagined they were positively life threatening. The police in Varanasi, however, are making precisely that claim.

According to them, reporters from two news stations, IBN7 and Star News, along with local politicians incited a group of disabled roadside vendors to consume poison to protest the city administration’s decision to clear the sidewalks they’d claimed for themselves. Two arrests have already been made and an FIR lodged against the two television channels.

Rehman : He-Man Of Indian Music Industry

What drew me strongly to write this post, is this someone called Naresh Iyer. What a break for this talented youngster, who got rejected from the last 25 finalists for Channel V Super Singer contest. But that disappointment turned into joy, and of great hope, with A.R Rehman, the co-judge for that competition offering Naresh a chance to sing for his next movie.

Now, this singer, who is ruling the roost in Tamil Films, has made another achievement. And what a feather in his cap, apart from the R.D Burman Filmfare award for emerging singing talent ! He bagged the National Award for the best singer at the 53rd National Film Awards, results of which were announced yesterday. Honestly, I was really surprised that he did win the award, not because he isn’t talented. But for someone so new, to win the award is still a rarity! Unnikrishnan the now famous singer in Tamil movies also bagged the National Award in his first song itself for , “Ennavale” for the Tamil movie Kaadhalan . Guess who the music director was ? A.R Rehman.

Bizarre Review: Namastey London

Warning: Explicit material. Reader discretion advised.

Well I’m not sure if you heard of this movie being released or not, but the fact still remains – there was nothing new apart from locations and a super-flop storyline. Also, it’s true that Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif are paired once again, after the disaster they experienced from their previous movie together - HUM KO DEEWANA KAR GAYE

I had to write a review for Namastey London coz the movie is brilliant (you’ll hear this many times ahead) and also if the first failure was not a lesson, whoever wrote-n-directed-n-produced this movie, I have to say, had an IQ of a potato sandwich. I will not be surprised if they both again reappear with a similar storyline in a movie titled, say Hum Ko Deewana Kiya London May.

Well, the movie starts with a brilliant but shocking scene, the effect of which ripples till the end of the movie – the whole theater is empty with couple of corner seats occupied by students trying to make out in dark. I was not expecting house full on the fifth day of the movie anyway, but still only 14 people for the 9pm show, is something unexpected.
