Rakhi Sawant, Entertainment At Its Best.

Last night I watched in awe apni Bigg Boss’s Queen Rakhi Sawant chat up Karan Johar over Koffee, I am sure many of you reading this post did so too and so did tons of other Sawant fans. Inspite being an admirer of the controversial item girl, I had pre-decided that I would watch this particular episode from a neutral point of view - If I found her act to be overly pretentious rather than her being herself, my review post would rip her to shreds. After all no fan likes to be felt cheated and neither do I.

So what did I think of Ms. Sawant’s session with an A-list Bollywood celebrity on one of the most popular talk shows on Indian Television? With a sincere heart, I have to say it was bloody mind blowing and she was truly fantastic. By all means it was The Best episode ever featured on Koffee With Karan. A room filled with housewives, their husbands and inlaws – all cheering, nodding in agreement, sympathetic when needed and laughing uncontrollably, in a span of 60 minutes, is the perfect example of how impressive Rakhi Sawant is.

The lady was her usual drama-self adding her trademark jhatkas, the matkas and even a gaana. She spoke with all honesty about preferring to converse in Hindi and not English, experience in the Bigg Boss house where she was nicknamed “Sawant Laundry”, how a reality show changed all the negatives in her life to positives and all those family members who had previously disowned her cause of her profession, today proudly beat their chests over her popularity. With frankness she talked about her struggling phase in Bollywood including being a victim of casting couch, her relationship with C grade actor Abhishek Awasthi, her preference for live-in relationship over marriage and the plastic reality of body enhancements in the Hindi film industry, “Joh bhagwan nahi deta woh doctor deta hai”, fittingly said by her in these words.

Behind this bold glamorized exterior, lies a woman who was forced to grow up and take charge at an age when most of us are busy relishing our teenage years. She was barely 12 when her father walked out on her family, she was then handed the responsibility of not only feeding herself but also her younger siblings along with their mother. She gave up education, her innocence and her youth, everything to fulfill her family duties and all she got in return was constant nagging from her mother, abuses from her father and being ridiculed by the media. But frankly speaking, in practicality how many of us would have survived in a situation like hers? Barely a handful, me thinks.

Glimpses of her gullibility could be seen every time she thanked Karan for inviting her on the show, as if it were an announcement of her grand arrival on the Bollywood scene. The joy of wearing a Manish Malhotra creation, something according to her only the women of high-society can afford to. On the topic of Mika Singh and the kissing controversy, she appeared restrained but very composed. For her, the man and the incident are long done with but it seems the other party continues to be hell-bent on deriving whatever publicity they can from it - “Puppie ki kamai kha raho woh” is what she said. And I can’t help but agree with her.

But what completely took me by surprise was Sawant’s brilliant sense of humor, which was the prime source of amusement throughout the show and was at its best during the Rapid Fire round. When asked by a random viewer, if she was lost in a deserted island, which 3 men would she take with her and what would she do with each of them? With pouting lips she replied, Amitabh Bachchan, Hrthik Roshan and John Abraham…cheekily adding whether she really had to specify as to what she would like to do with them. She threw a fantastic bouncer when asked what she would do if handed the charge of the Indian cricket team - “Mere hisabh se cricketers ki biwiyoun unke sath tour par jana chahiye. Woh jayengi toh phir yeh log cricket ground par theek se khelenge aur doosoron ki biwiyoun ke saat nahi flirt karenge”. Excellent point, right no?

Her daring attitude was evident when she choose Sanjay Leela Bhansali over Kjo as her favorite director and was gutsy enough to rate Shah Rukh Khan a 5 on a scale of 10 on the sexiness factor, that too on Karan Johar’s face.

In the last 20 minutes or so, she was joined by her ex-house mates, Carol Gracious and Rahul Roy, which I thought was so not necessary cause Rakhi already, had the house on fire all by herself. Carol appeared genuine in her praises for Sawant girl but something tells me it’s all nothing but a sham. Rahul was the same dud and boring self as always. As for the host, I have to rate Karan a 10 on 10. Not only was he looking a complete dude in a casual attire, he went on with his job with outmost honesty. Not only did he treat her with respect but in a true gentlemen fashion, offered an apology for mocking her and her image on previous occasions.

On the whole this episode showcased the item girl as an ultimate mascot of entertainment. And as someone rightly said “Apne desh mein Rakhi Sawant, ek eklauta model hai”.

The show was FAB…just FAB…Rakhi grt hai yaar!!!

Kjo was pretty boring yday…grilling my dearest Rakhi on family, maa, pyaar, shaadi, skin show, ….

& one more fundu jaawab from Ms Sawant when being asked about the use of Silicon…’jab miss universe aur miss world karva sakti hai toh Rakhi Sawant kyun nahin karva sakte’.

Don’t you think it was amazingly gutsy of Karan Johar to have her as the only guest in the show? That must be a first. Pliss to not mistake me as a KJo fan, I just thought it was pretty cool.

I thought Rakhee did an amazing job of being honest and overly dramatic in alternate moments. How does this woman switch so easily?

I guess this is not the forum to point out that there was something very very pretentious about her posture. :-)

All said, one of the very few shows that kept me glued for the whole hour.

Mehak : I think the comment was hinted towards Sushmita Sen, who has supposedly been a victim of plastic surgery.

Sqrlta : Good post. :)

Full2Enjoy : Should be up very soon.

Amrita : Welcome to the club…Yipppeee!! ;)

Meetu : Being pretentious about her postur, well thats what I meant when I said “Jhatkas” and “Matkas”. As for Kjo, well don’t know if it was gutsy, I mean he clearly knew what he was getting into.

Aqua : Well you can watch it again on coming Sunday @ 6.00 pm on Star One and Star World.

As for Carol, well on the show she was nice but I am sure in the real world she wouldnt like to be seen with Rakhi and thats the impression I got.

Hmm, was just wondering. As compared to most other talk shows, why does Karan johar sit so damned far away from the guest? Any clue?

rakhi is just useless she thinks she has a big fan following . but a piece of pure entertainment!! she welps out in cheapest way possible. she thinks herself to be a tv star whereas the reality is otherwise . people tend to watch her on telly coz she is uniquely cheap and uncivilised charaterised by the way she rattles her guts out.sadly she doesn’t realise that she’s being laughed and mocked at by the whole nation along with her hunky chunky mayr awasthi(as he thinks of him).it is sad to know how can a cheapster like her have so many fans.

she is the best n honest, of course in this bloody diplomatic world she still dazzles as the pure diamond with her brave statements to support her and also she doesn’t make a negative comment on others.
I wish if i get a chance i am ready to be her boyfriend.
