Review Beautiful Liar : Beyonce ft. Shakira

Let me firstly begin by thanking our dearest Information & Broadcasting ministry for keeping its choppy hands off music channel VH1. Lord almighty is our witness as to how we angreezi music lovers have solely survived off this channel’s feeds in the otherwise repetitive and desi-music (mostly) music channel segment.

Now getting back to the main topic, last night I happened to catch a newly released music video featuring none other than the two most sexiest woman in today’s global music market – Beyonce Knowles and Latino-hotness Ms. Shakira. The video in question is Beautiful Liar directed by Jake Nava. Jake Nava known for his raunchy videos such as Beyonce’s Crazy In Love, Baby Boy, and Naughty Girl.

Just as a song, Beautiful Liar isn’t all that fabulous and may take some time to grow on you. The music is fast paced, filled with global sounds and danceable to a certain degree. But a look at the music video and boy, you are hooked. It would be anyone’s guess, if you have bootylicious women such as them and that too together in the same frame; fireworks are a sure short guarantee.

The video starts out with Beyonce and Shakira appearing out of a cloud of haziness, dancing slowly with different backdrops behind them: Beyonce in Sun Rise and Shakira in Sunset. Now there are moments when you would think that both these women are actually one person but no, nothing’s wrong with your eyes – they are intentionally made to look alike. The look bending more towards Beyonce’s way of styling as in the hair, clothes and even the dance moves.

In the second half of the video, the women are seen dancing together in the rain. They’re now both dressed more like Shakira’s vintage style with long crimped hair with the tight belly-shirt and shiny black pants. The dancing is in sync with Shakira’s trademark moves: belly dancing, the hip wiggling and hair-tossing bit. And believe me, Beyonce is equally fantastic at it. This portion really had me thinking whether these two were infact separated at birth? Don’t believe me? Check out the video yourself.
