Koffee with Karan Presents Bitchy Bollywood

Karan and his Koffee |
For me Koffee with Karan started off with a disappointment. Any show such as this requires making a solid impression on its viewers from the very first episode, especially if high TRP ranking is it’s main goal. But sadly, the renowned film-maker was not able to pull out another blockbuster inspite of being supported by the famous Kuch Kuch Hota Hai gang. The show appeared to walk on the same straight-line set by its previous incarnation.
So despite the let-down, why the heck do I still continue to spend my Sunday evening sipping Koffee with Karan?
Well its no hidden fact that I am Bollywood crazy and I (like many others) accept it for everything that it offers; good films, bad films, trashy films, Bhatt films, pakao ones – inshort the whole lot. And you would have to be one daft-bum to not knowledge the reality that if there is one man who can coerce anyone to spill out their dark-side (including the ones who dislike his type of cinema) then that man has to be Karan Johar.
Considering myself to be quite Bollywood savvy, I would say it would rather be an un-wise decision from my end to ignore someone like Karan Johar. And to be utterly honest I am glad that I never stopped watching.

Koffee with Karan featuring Mr. & Mrs. Kkrish. |
Koffee with Karan episode two, starring hot-bod Hrthik Roshan and the dusky beauty Priyanka Chopra was not all the spectacular but it was surely an inch better than episode one. I especially liked the bit when Karan quizzed Priyanka about her friendship with ever-so feisty Kareena Kapoor. Priyanka was caught with her tail between her legs after Karan showed a clip of his upcoming episode where Kareena (with a disgusting expression) completely denied being friends with the lady which was in fact totally opposite of what Priyanka had stated. Needless to say the embarrassing look on Priyanka’s face was priceless. Another thing which I guess only someone like Karan can manage – is to get his guests answer questions which our tabloid columns can only predict. For example, Priyanka’s close association with new-comer Harman Baweja, Hrithik’s success in Bollywood only because of backing from his director-father, Hrithik’s controversial kissing scene with Aishwarya Rai and but of course Hrithik’s taunting repartee on Aamir and Salman’s height.
The Koffee got even hotter with episode three, starring the man in black Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the lady who shows-a-lot Ms. Mallika Sherawat. Both the guests are well-known in the industry for their aggressive nature and loud-mouth behavior – which only meant piping hot-flame wars, resulting in higher TRPs.

Koffee with Karan Episode 2 |
Sanjay bitched about director Kunal Kohli calling him a highly over-rated director and his creation Fanaa not being a worthwhile watch. Bombshell Mallika didn’t spare the host either, taunting him over excessively using her name in season one – “Robert De Niro said, you didn’t knock me down! I’m still standing!”. Wow! She has her eyes on Hollywood too.
On being questioned about her sex-symbol image, she intelligently tagged it as a daring act rather than a desperate move to make it big in Hindi films. Talking about her hell-raising tantrums, she made a confession – “I suffered from superiority complex”. Now this is by far the best example of modesty I have ever witnessed till date.
The best bit however was when Mallika sowed some seeds for future cat fight with her one film co-star Kareena Kapoor by taking a dig at her ‘Yeh mera dil’ item number in Don. With a bold expression on her face armed with equally bold words, she went on air claiming to have done a much better show (if given the opportunity) than her rival and equally notorious co-actress. And yes, she is fond of Bipasha’s buttocks.
The best is just around the corner with this week featuring none other than the mother goose herself, Kareena Kapoor and her chocolate-boy beau Shahid Kapoor. From what I can foresee looking at the currently aired footage clips, we can surely expect some fire-works this Sunday evening.
Finally as a re-review, I would say with each passing episode the show is starting to look more of a boxing ring where we have top-notch personalities been given the liberty to bitch in whatever way feasible against whosoever they see worthy enough to be their punching bag. All ofcourse in the name of wholesome entertainment – ya rite!
Karan’s Koffee with its increasing dose of filmy-masala is just about tasting almost perfect. So Kjo darling keep up the trend cause believe me, I’m lovin’ it.

You are so right about Karan’s hold in the industry. After all you don’t wanna be on the wrong side of the fence. Do you?
