Cartoon Shin Chan : Bad Role Model For Kids?
Don’t know if many of you watch cartoon shows or not. But if nothing interesting playing on the idiot box, then cartoon channels are my only savior. I know we all are expected to grow out of them but then some of us still remain a child at heart.
Cartoon shows are no more what they use to be, at least not from what I can remember from my kiddy days. Today in India we have tons of TV channels which are solely targeted at young children as their main audience, all thanks to the Cable Network revolution. These channels not only showcase Indian programs but bring together various kinds of shows from all across the world.
Most of these shows provide nothing more than innocent entertainment value, while some are more focused on spreading basic education and good manners. However over the recent months, the actual impact of some of these fictional characters on young minds has resulted in a great deal of worry for parents.
And here is one prime example.

Not So Innocent At All : Shin-Chan |
Crayon Shin Chan is one of most popular Japanese cartoon series across the world. Its Hindi version titled “Shin Chan†is aired on a popular kid’s channel, Hungama TV. Though Shin Chan may appear to be just another regular kindergarten going child but don’t they often say that “looks can be very deceptiveâ€.
Shin Chan often uses fairly impolite language, argues with his mother practically on all occasions, misbehaves at school with his teachers and friends – all of this obviously shown with the excuse of simple ignorance of correct behavior due to his very young age.
Personally speaking, at home my six year old nephew is forbidden from watching Shin Chan. The reason is simple “He teaches bad thingsâ€, so says my sister in-law. And quite frankly I can understand why she feels so. In my opinion a character like Shin Chan is more apt for teenagers and adults who love watching animated series such as The Simpsons and South Park. But by allowing children below 10 years of age to follow Shin Chan’s lead could surely result in negative implications. Especially when the concerned character is shown disrespecting his family members, mocking and passing rude remarks towards strangers and his school teachers, pulling down his pants in class room, etc.
Shin Chan’s weird and extremely inappropriate behavior is exactly what makes him popular among young kids. For some he is just a cartoon but for many in that age-bracket he is a role-model.
Now whether Hungama TV opts to give into these complaints by taking the series off air or instead continues to carry on without any hitch – well it is something only time will tell and until then Shin Chan will carry on with his unruly ways.

first upon, you are worlds dumb guy i seen to say something wrong with shin chan. Shin Chan is the best cartton in the world. If your kid follow bad words from that, dont let ur kid to see that. Again when your chile will grow, r u going to keep watch on him? no. i am sure he will drink,smoke,girls n lot. You cant control. 1000 of families wathching shin chan, there childrens r not affecting by it. Grow up man in your life. You are not some one diffrent or in the billaniors list to show your decency. n F**K OFF

incase u have not noticed there are many things apart from shin chan which is not suppossed to be shown on television.
why are u targetting shin chan in particular??
and even if shin chan is banned in television there are many ways like watchin the videos online.
oh nd there are many ppl above the age of 5 who watch shin chan.it has a huge adult fan following as well
atleast it is countless times better than those endless soaps

At first I thought this article was going to be completely idiotic and ignorant, or just a self-righteous rant from a parent with nothing better to do. But after I read into it I can’t help but agree. Shin chan is an awesome show and I love every minute of it, but I would never let my 10 year old sister watch it. It’s not that the show is horrible (I just said i love it!) but none of the jokes would even make any sense to her. In America (where I live) it airs on a late-night block of programming called Adult swim on Cartoon Network, and before each show they give a warning that this is not a kid’s cartoon. They say it’s not appropriate for kids under 14 years old, and I agree. I’m pretty surprised that it’s aired as a kids show anywhere because I just assumed that, like South Park, it was made for adults.I hope when my sister is my age (19) she can appreciate wittiness and satire, but for now I’d rather she stick with stuff that’s clearly for kids her age.

I really love the cartoon Shin Chan…Yeah it may show the kid using offensive language ..but it also has a lot of episodes where they teach the kids to take things in the right spirit..I am an adult but when i am upset i know what to do..simple i watch Shin Chan and then the smile is back on my face

Shin Chan is the best cartoon entertainment show on the TV,
well! i agree its not for kids below 5yrs but its okay!,rather than watching those singing competitions and idiotic daily soaps and same “ishkwale” movies.He is something called”LAKHON MEIN EK!”.I really watch him out everyday and its a part of my routine now.I cannot resist myself when the needle of the clock strikes to 5pm or 10:30pm, similar like shinosuke i mean shin chan likes to watch “ACTION KAMEN” everyday at 5pm.Yo!Shin chan.”Kya aapko shin chan pasaand hain?”

I love Shin Chan Nohara a lot. He is a cute innocent child. I know that he crosses his limits,but his mom definately knows the right punishment for him (that is beating him on his head as it swollens up).I do believe that young children will imbibe his bad behaviour,but they will also know that they will also be beaten up by their moms if they behave badly.I still love Shin Chan a lot.

Cartoon Shin Chan is not a children’s show any more than Family Guy is a children’s show. This should be obvious from the signs in the bathhouse episode: “Penises this way” and “Vaginas over here.”

Please grow up and get your maturity level a little higher than a complete retard because if u really wanna teach children good things in life they’ll learn by themselves ….even when u keep kids in a glass shielded compartment their whole life and teah them lovely things for years they’ll still wanna explore the bad things…its human nature…this is not to say that shin chan is a wrong influence to children. It is just an honest representation of the life of a small kid who likes to do crazy stuff and explore his life like any other normal child….doesnt every child do that and if u have children maybe u’d realise that they have so much curiosity and this cartoon is merely a representaion of those emotions………..children are meant to be taught good things and things about wrong and right but banning them from cartoons that show a little more honesty than the usual saas bahu crap and the reality shows ranting the TV screen is completely stupid and nonsensical….Please stop the so called moral policing cos its general hypocrisy….try your conscience and moral meter the next time u go and watch movies like murder and jism and all these ugly serials that have nothign but negativity and boredome which is supposed to teach values to our children. If u wanna teach ur kids values…make them learn from real life examples like urself instead of ponting fingers at a harmless cartoon and blaming the moral police at the drop of a hat….who is this police anyway….we all made it up….its us….so pls let it be man…and give ur ego a rest…pet it and go to ur child and spend some good time talking to him/her about life and let them learn from there on,,,they’ll turn out fine.

Hi I agree that Shin Chan behaves rudely and argues with his mother , but see its parents who have to teach there children that these all animated series are for there enjoyment and not to implement everything they see on television.
Secondly on evry rude behaviour and comments he is always beaten by his mother it shows that what he is doing is not good , so children can be taught in other way that they should not do the things like that as they are not good.
So I don’t think that children will get affected by this series.
And I request all the parents of the children who are below 10 that they should always watch what their child are watching and should always discuss with their child that what they feel after seeing it.
